At the end of June Champcar visited the race track at Mont Tremblant.  If you haven't been there it is definitely worth the trip!  It is a beautiful resort town as well as a beautiful track. I was the pace car driver for the Atlantic race and the "hand" for the Champcar race. On Saturday afternoon my teammate and I were invited to go for a ride in the Formula One two seater cars they had at the event.  Of course we didn't have to think to hard about it!;-)  We had to wear the full gear from fireproof underwear and socks to a balaclava.  There was no messing around and then we were strapped in behind the driver.  We reached speeds of 180 mph and I even had a bit of an off road excursion going into turn 8.  The G Forces you feel when you are accelerating, braking and turning are pretty high and I had a sore neck for at least three days, but it was worth it.

May is Car Care Month and as part of my ongoing role as Spokesperson for the Be Car Care Aware campaign I did many mediea appearances disucssing how maintaining our vehicle can protect the environment!  Here is an example of how we can do our part to help.  A dirty air filter can reduce your fuel economy by as much as 10%!  The air filter is like our nose and when our nose gets stuffed out it is hard for us to breath.  When our cars nose gets stuffed up (dirty air filter) it has to work harder to do the same thing!  So it burns more gas.

In addition to all of the media interviews, I also participated in a number of car check events.  This was a free event for people to bring their vehicles and have them inspected by certified technicians.   We held Car Check events in Winnipeg, Calgary and Guelph and all were very successful.  If you are looking for more information you can always check out: www.carcarecanada.com

As part of my ongoing role with Car Care Canada’s Be Car Care Aware, I was in London Ontario at the end of February filming a video. The video is called “How to conduct your own car check event”. This video is for repair shops to use to conduct their own car check event. The video will be ready for May and can be purchased through www.carcarecanada.com. The filming took most of the day and it was challenging to remember what needed to be said and do it well! All in all, I had a great time and love doing this sort of stuff.

Road Rage

Recently, I did some filming for the Fifth Estate. The piece is on road rage. Look for it to air on Jan.31. My job was to be one of those drivers who drives everyone else up the wall by making lots of lane changes! I think you will find it quite interesting if you are able to catch it.
